Slim's Career

Slim had an interesting and somewhat unusual career. He was a school principal at age 21, and a superintendent of schools at 22. When he went to the University of Michigan, at age 47, he had completed twenty-five (25) years as a school superintendent. He then spent twenty-three (23) years at The University of Michigan, helping their graduates find jobs. His personal specialty was to work with public school boards, throughout Michigan and the Midwest, in selecting new school superintendents... something for which he had a unique background and talent.

Below is Slim's employment history, from his graduation at Western Michigan University in 1934, until his retirement in 1982...

Consultant
In his early years of retirement Slim "kept a hand in" by continuing to consult with school boards and other public agencies. He coordinated the searches for new school superintendents in several major cities of the Midwest and Eastern U.S. His private consulting firm also managed a major implementation of "Management by Objectives" throughout the government of Cook County, Illinois... selecting and supervising some thirty-five (35) "on-the-ground" consultants for the two-year project period.
