September 2001

The Ypsilanti Courier noted Ypsilanti Public Schools board business for September 2001, which included acceptance of a gift of $2,000 from Slim to the Ardis Renaissance Academy in memory of Dorothy.

Ardis School Web Pages at NASA

1996

The kids at Evart W. Ardis Elementary School get their nifty web site loaded on the NASA server... as a model for other school web sites to follow. There is even a page for Slim himself. This was the result of receiving honorable mention in the CyberFair '96 competition sponsored by Cisco Systems, MCI Corporation, Network Solutions, and Global SchoolNet Foundation.

Other News

As a public official, Slim received extensive news coverage throughout his career. Hundreds of articles were written about him, quoted him, or made reference to his actions while a school superintendent or college administrator. Since this was largely before the Internet and the advent of online searching you will have to consult the various local newspapers in the communities where Slim lived and worked.
